8 Interior trends to watch out for in 2019

With a new year, comes new trends. Some haven’t been seen before, whilst others arrived in 2018 and are showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Here, Joseph John list the top trends that are set to be big in 2019.

Whether you’re considering a complete kitchen renovation or some simple changes, here Joseph John, based in Worthing, lists some of the trends that are set to be big in 2019.

Dark tones in the kitchen

Dark Kitchens continue to be popular in so many interiors – with dark colours not just confined to cabinets but also often continuing on to the walls and floors. This is a favourite trend here at Joseph John!

Story Telling: Materials matter!

People are increasingly wanting to know where their furniture comes from which has in turn increased the popularity of bespoke furniture increase. It’s no longer enough to just have stylish furniture – you should now know exactly how and where they were built: the craftsmanship and the materials.

All Joseph John kitchens are designed and created by our team in Worthing, West Sussex using FSC-certified timber from tulip wood to MDF depending on the design of your kitchen.

Two Tone Kitchen Cabinets

Whether you’re carefully picking two different colours or pairing wooden cabinets with painted ones, with some bravery this look is well worth it in the end and really adds a wow factor when showing off your carefully crafted and beautifully designed bespoke kitchen.

The Larder

This continues to be a huge trend throughout kitchens. A place where you can not only shut away food beverages but now this area also extends to coffee machines, toasters and areas for food prep. The benefit of being able to shut away this unsightly area means they can continue to be used daily without the fear of untidiness. This is where practicality meets clever design.

Natural Stone

Natural stones with intriguing shapes and patterns will continue to grow in popularity. These aren’t just being confined to worktops but are being seen in splashbacks, waterfall worktops and even sinks. Look for marble, granite and quartz – the more natural the finish, the better! Joseph John bespoke kitchen worktops are handcrafted and created to the highest specification.

Coral is the colour for 2019

The Pantone ‘Colour of The Year’ for 2019 has been announced. Living Coral – a bold coral hue with a golden undertone – is set to energize and enliven us with a soft edge. We don’t doubt it’ll be long before this colour moves into kitchen design and we think it’ll be an exciting change to current colour schemes.

Leather and Wooden Drawer Pulls

Clients are moving away from traditional polished chrome or nickel knobs to hardware that has more warmth and depth to it – creating a more organic feel. Leather and wooden pulls do this with great impact and create beautiful attention to detail in any kitchen design. They also have the ability to be teamed with lots of different styles, from traditional right through to modern.

Black Matte

Black matte appliances are set to be big in 2019 and are being used as a fun way to subtly add contrast in the kitchen. The dark matte finish also has the bonus of naturally reducing the appearance of fingerprints and dirt. Both on trend and practical!
