At Joseph John & Co we pride ourselves in putting pen to paper and creating a hand drawn design to show our clients how we envisage the space will look. All our technicals are created on the computer but we feel there’s something raw and creative about doing it this way for our perspectives. Everything is so fast paced in the world we find ourselves now that there’s something so good for the soul by slowing things down and working this way. These wonderful Worthing clients weren’t afraid

These wonderful Worthing clients weren’t afraid of colour in the slightest which made this kitchen-diner space in their Victorian townhouse such fun for us. Plus there’s nothing more than some @houseofhackney print when you want things to be a bit extra. We reimagined the space, moving the kitchen from the back of the house (as is so often the way in Victorian houses) to the front teamed with a dining/living space with lots of pleasing practical storage. Cabinetry teaming with the Artemis print hand painted in @littlegreenepaintcompany yellow ‘Middle Buff’.

We are looking for the right individual to join us at Joseph John & Co as a cabinetry designer. Experience is an advantage but at the same time, as a small company, we want you to be part of the ride! The most important characteristics (in our view) for this role are:

- PASSION. Passion, passion, passion! Passion and a key interest in interiors specifically cabinetry. I’m talking lots of saved images in your instagram; following interior designers; being the go to in your family for design advice; experimenting in your own home! Yes please.

- CREATIVITY. Being able to think up new and exciting designs and reimagining the space.

- DOWN TO EARTH. With a lot of small businesses, our clients often become friends and we forge relationships with them. Being friendly, personable, down to earth and if possible a little bit funny is so so important.

- DRIVEN. We want to push ourselves and accomplish. We want to grow as a team and celebrate success together.

- ORGANISED. I forgot this one in my story.. but organisation is important especially with large projects. Good time keeping skills and being able to organise your time effectively helps everyone to keep smiling.

Wardrobes don’t always have to store away clothes.. in this master bedroom, we used the wardrobes to hide away the entrance into the master en-suite. If you have a bedroom that is full of door openings and lots of windows or radiators it can mean little wall space left for practical cabinetry. By incorporating doorways into cabinetry it creates a beautiful feature and still allows you to have the feature of a good run of cabinetry.
We created a moody scheme here in this town house in Worthing - leaning heavily on one of our favourite shades: @littlegreenepaintcompany Pompeian Ash. Teamed with antique glass mirror and a accent freestanding bath in yellow, we could definitely hide away here!

Lovely to see some clearer skies today although I probably shouldn’t speak too soon! This large home renovation in Steyning included a home office amongst other rooms. A perfect balance of colour and pattern, proving a office need not be boring nor clinical and can ooze warmth and comfort. Although, teamed with these darker nights, might mean actually working becomes a bit more difficult!

I’m Electra 👋🏼 myself and my husband Joe set up Joseph John & Co nearly ten years ago now. We were young managing the business and navigating being new parents to our eldest daughter but we knew what we wanted to achieve. Lots of overtime and 3 more daughters later this is us. This image shouts winter walks (when the rain finally stops!), boots off and a warm fire to us. Your boot room doesn’t have to large. A small space with a purpose to tidy away welly boots and rain coats is enough. Add a few plump cushions like our client has here and you’ve got yourself a functional and aesthetically pleasing space.

A home office set up for this Sussex farmhouse. In a room steeped in character the design for the cabinetry needed to be simple yet timeless, for the cabinetry to feel a part of the interiors. In this corner sits a desk with a floating shelf above and a tall unit with open shelving. We hand paint the cabinetry in the majority of our projects which we feel is the perfect compliment to the bespoke nature of our work - this colour choice was @farrowandball ‘De Nimes’ and we must say we adore the colour combination our clients chose. How lovely does it look against the soft earthy pink on the walls!

Cabinetry for a bespoke dressing room flooded with natural light on the Autumn afternoon when we revisited our project with @riseholmerestoration. The cabinetry sits floor to ceiling and it seemed only right to do this with this space to honour the grandeur of the room. Painted in a soft and sympathetic neutral ‘Clay Mid’ by @littlegreenepaintcompany, our shaker style wardrobes were designed around these bespoke handles designed by us and hand crafted in solid brass by @clemoandfinch - they’re the star of the show really and they bring such a personal touch to this project.

We designed a beautiful big prep table as part of this bespoke kitchen project with a trio of deep spacious drawers and a slated open shelf that runs along the expanse of the cabinetry to fill with crockery and baskets. We love the openness of a prep table and in a room flooded with natural light it makes the space feel even more expansive. A prep table is a wonderful alternative to an island, we’d say it’s a little more casual and just feels effortless in the space.

It sits beautifully against the hand painted shaker cabinets of the main kitchen and was the perfect chance to do something a little different. Our clients chose this charming @thornbackandpeel wallpaper and isn’t it so lovely! With pretty vintage ceiling pendants and aged brass fixtures this small space is brimming with style.

‘Pudding’ by @coatpaints adorns the walls and cabinetry of this sweet utility space. It’s a small room but serves so much function - the washing machines and driers are integrated within the cabinetry with the original laundry maid hung on the ceiling for drying, a Butlers sink and a row of cabinetry for storing away cleaning products.

Painted in this pretty soft pink shade with brass fittings and a lighting veined Carrara quartz it has become a space we can imagine you’d quite look forward to spending time in, despite the seemingly never ending laundry piles and household chores!
