Coolham Country Kitchen

A bespoke country modern kitchen designed for this beautiful renovation in the Sussex countryside. Looking back to a year before the kitchen was installed it’s wonderful to see how our clients have transformed the space and reinstated the character back into this home with beautiful oak beams and limestone flooring. We designed in-frame shaker cabinetry with a beaded framework to compliment this country interior combined with brushed nickel ironmongery to add a touch of modern to the scheme.

A decorative canopy sits above the range cooker with a statement mantle shelf, shaker panelling and a pair of storage drawers each side – perfect for spices and oils. Deep and spacious solid oak drawers were designed for the cooking area creating plenty of space to store pots and pans. A countertop cabinet was tucked in the alcove by the window now filled with tea and coffee supplies in handy reach of the hot tap and kitchen sink.

A large freestanding kitchen dresser was designed for this kitchen project. One side is a dedicated breakfast cabinet with cereals, condiments and crockery, as well as worktop space to store the toaster. The other side of the dresser is a touch more luxurious – a bar area with antique mirror set behind the glass shelving. The kitchen cabinetry is hand painted throughout in the times neutral ‘Portland Stone’ by Little Greene.

In the centre of the space sits a generously sized kitchen island – there’s seating at one side with a row of reduced depth cupboards tucked behind (perfect for extra crockery and odd appliances!) as well as several banks of drawers on the cooking side. Heritage touches were designed to make a feature of the island – statement corner posts, shaker end panels and a chamfered skirting wrap around the expanse of the cabinetry – all hand painted in Farrow & Ball ‘Green Smoke’.
