Sussex Farmhouse Kitchen

A bespoke shaker style kitchen handcrafted for a charming farmhouse in the South Downs – the property has undergone a rejuvenation over the past few years and the projects contractors, Martin Sewell Building Company, have been awarded the Sussex Heritage Trust award for the project. The kitchen cabinetry was designed for an extension from the original farmhouse and features the most incredible tall ceilings with oak beams, a large Crittall window overlooking the garden and snippets of the original flint work – a beautiful setting for our handmade shaker cabinetry to be fitted.

The main run of cabinetry features a canopy over the hob which extends to the ceiling height with decorative shaker panelling to compliment the cabinetry – open shelving is tucked into each side for spices and oils. Tall units were designed to house the ovens and warming drawers with spacious drawers beneath for pots and pans. A tall run of cabinetry houses an integrated fridge freezer, a pantry with deep drawers and spice racks and housing for a freestanding fridge freezer with open shelving above for glassware. All painted with a hand brushed finish in ‘Green Smoke’ – a hand finished process that reflects the care and craftsmanship involved in the creation of our bespoke cabinetry.

A bespoke kitchen island sits in the centre of the cooking area, hand painted in ‘Studio Green’ – touches of tongue and groove panelling, statement corner posts and a hand crafted Elm worktop were chosen to work alongside the natural textures and finishes of the room.  The kitchen feels like such a social area – with comfy arm chairs throughout the room to sink into. Open shelving and base units tucked into the alcoves create welcoming corners which our clients have made complete with a pretty selection of lamps and soft furnishings.

Our clients have such an eye for interiors which makes this space so special and their consideration of colours, finishes, textures are evident in the space. This farmhouse has been renovated with such sympathy and style – it’s a joy to see our bespoke shaker style kitchen cabinetry at home here.
