Victorian Home Shaker Style Kitchen

Cuckfield | Kitchen Design Service

Handmade kitchen cabinetry designed for the wonderful renovation of this Victorian home in mid-Sussex. The brief for the project was to create cabinetry that felt as if it could have always been there – honouring the original kitchen that would of been installed within the home when it was first built. Timeless and sympathetic to the era of the property, our handmade cabinetry sits in the original footprint of the house.

The kitchen cabinetry compromises of a U-shape design – with a Butler sink unit, complete with the Bowland sink by Shaws of Darwen, integrated dishwashers and an integrated bin. It was essential in this design to hide away the modern commodities behind – each tucked away behind our in-frame shaker doors. A tall splashback spans the kitchen in a Light Carrara quartz and in the same stone a shelf was designed with brass fiddle rails and brackets for displaying a beautifully curated selection of artwork and ceramics.

A tall run of shaker style handmade kitchen cabinetry houses integrated fridges, a freezer and a pantry unit with pretty decorative cut outs on the door panels. All hand painted in a sumptuous dark forest green named ‘Brewer’ by Coat Paints and paired with aged brass fittings – turned catches, decorative cup handles and dainty mushroom knobs.

In the corner of the kitchen sits a walk-in pantry designed and made from solid oak, for the framework and doors, in a haberdashery style. This space is rather special with pretty vintage lights and Thornback & Peel wallpaper. We particularly love the glazed countertop created for the space with reeded glass doors. Our clients designed glazed Crittall style doors for the entrance to the space which has created a delightful view into the pantry from the kitchen.

This room is pretty and decorative and such a stylish spot! We loved bringing this vision to our life for our clients and being a small part of this extensive and sympathetic renovation project.
